What sort of goose are you??? you hero worship a pshycopath like Chopper Read,
then you have the hide to bag people who wear Joe Byrnes Helmet..i know who the idiot is ...look in the mirror..you simpletonr
Great stuff, keep it coming! At least I've got you thinking 'Curnow'
( Curnow... I'd have that changed by deed poll ).
And I do not 'hero worship', Chopper Read...
He's an interesting Australian, unlike yourself.
As far as a few sooks whinging on Ironoutlaw...
If there too stupid to see what they have done by trying on ANY Kelly armour... Handling the weapons etc...
then I'll bloody tell em!
... I wonder what Joe Byrnes family think of all this nonsense ?

Llama, what a shame you have to hide your identity when you have such strong views.
Hi there Lola:) It is indeed a shame I hide my real name,
but I've had to over the last few years because of my work running servers
Banning users on these servers can lead to nastiness on their part.
My name is David Cox, I'm pleased to meet you.
I hope my comments haven't offended you. I know your a Lloyd/Kelly descendent.
And by your feedback on Brad's site, I can tell your a great lady! How do you feel about the armour being a side show?
Doesn't Hammond make your blood boil too?
Thanks for the feedback Lola!
Dave;)

Just a bit of feedback on your comments about The Glenrowan Dinner. I can understand what you are trying to achieve and everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if they are wrong!!! I as a Kelly fan was amazed that you finally got to see one of Australia's greatest Icons outside of a Glass Prison. Joe and Ned and the gang fought for justice and I bet they wouldnt want to see their suits behind glass. I dont care much who owns the suits or who is related to who. Ther legend of the Kelly gang and the stories are what makes it real. The armours are a reminder of it all or their trademark. I am a self taugh blacksmith who was commissioned to manufacture Ned, Joe and Dan's armours for the Jerilderie Shire. I dont advertise that I make these armours but people seek me out for them. One thing is I only make a replication. I dont use plough pieces etc and I dont charge the earth. I was able to have my suits looked at By Ian Jones who though they where one of the best eye for detail replicas he has seen. This brings me to my point. I was at that dinner, i didnt pay for a ticket but was able to see the armour first  hand. To me this was a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to hold something that has been forever out of reach. I have travelled and seen all the exhibitions etc like other believers but to be given this window of opprtunity was to me surreal. I dont care what dignitories where there but I got to see a piece of this up close. I believe in your fight to give the armour back to rightful owners but I see you had a go a Paul Okeefe so be careful for what you wish for as Paul might end up with Steve's armour and you will have to retract your words. I have seen the amount of items that people are flogging off with Ned Kelly such as snow domes pens etc. I am not into this commercial side of the armours. To be frank I havd a look at the ones in A store in Glenrowan and found out they where wrong not enough rivets and get this they are laser cut! The mini helmets had four bolts. This is where i get angry when people dont care actually about detail. I am not saying my armours are the best or anything like that but at least i take the time to make them as close as possible. So I am a supporter of keeping the armours in the country and back to their rightful owners but maybe if you think about it they could go back to the original manufacturer. I dont know Rupert but I will say this if I never get to touch Joe's helmet again and it goes behind glass at least i will tell the story of they Kelly gang to my kids and keep history alive. Maybe step out of the cicle and see what Paul okeefe is doing and that  is keeping the legend alive through children. If the police had their way we wouldnt have the suits would we. Id take my kids to see the armour any day and hey if they got to touch it then what a bonus. By the why they were made of metal so i dont think they will break.  And I can wait to see you edited versi!
on of this letter. Thanks

Thankyou Nick, very well put feedback mate!
I love the idea of Aussie kids getting to know and understand the story of the Kelly's, I just feel that there's better ways of doing
this, which I'll explain more about soon in some updates on my site. I'll add a few more remarks to your splendid feedback over the weekend (as jack daniels is calling)
Can you do me a favour and
email me some pics of your Armour... sounds very interesting! And I can't tell if your suggesting that
I might 'edit' your feedback... no way!! . I'll edit nothing that comes through my feedback, except for stupid Questions
like: 'I need ned pics for my school project... blah'

postscript, here's Nick's armour on EBay with a starting bid at $900aud, let you be the judge. Here's he's website
gotta say Nick, that bar would NOT look good in my bloody house.. yuk
! Your Armour Looks great though!

I just finished reading your Jika link. You have done a great page Llama. I live near the US Federal max prison in Marion, Illinois. I hear some things that go on there too. I am afraid all maximum prisons are very similar, but how do you punish in a humane way? I guess that is the real problem. And what do you do with the charles mansons and other crazies of this world? But I am glad you added this to your webpage. It touched my heart and made me think. Good job!!
Betty? Don't I know you from somewhere? One of my most trusted and best friends online...
Thanks for your feedback darl:)
There is a fair question there... What to do with the 'worst of the worse'? I don't think killing them is the answer...
The last man hanged in Australia was a bloke by the name of Ronald Ryan
Evidence these days shows that he may NOT infact have fired the fatal shot that killed the Pentridge Prison Officer.
Even if it's questionable? What a terrible mistake.
I guess in the mean time, taxpayers will just have to cop the 5 figure sum per year to house some of these convicted crims in protection.
The Port Arthur massacre here in Australia comes to mind... That gunman destroyed over 30 lives... let alone the family's of the poor victims
He has no rights left as a human being for what he did...
He'll spend the remainder of his life in segregation... until...

Hi Kari-Ann, I imagine the copyright to the Morgan pic has long ceased. I'll speak to a few contacts and see if you can use the
pic without repercussion, but I know copyright with music ceases after 100 years. I'll email you in a day or two ok :) regards

how did the bushrangers change Australias identity?
Hi Tammy, Well It's not a bad question! You could say that Bushrangers changed Australia's identity through 'mateship'... Look at the Kelly Gang for instance, £8000 reward was a massive amount of money back in the 19th Century, and the Police locked up the Gangs family and friends (with no charges) and not one of them was tempted for a crack at the blood money! That speaks volumes to me!
The 'criminal' class held together even from the first days of the first fleet, the 'us and them' attitude still exists today. A modern day example, who hasn't thoroughly enjoyed booing the 'Members' at the SCG or MCG? ;)

Hi Anne, Yes It will be a cold day in hell before you'll find me looking at things from a Police viewpoint. I don't apologise for this, read the Jerillderie and Cameron Letters or, try ironoutlaw.com or Dave White's glenrowan1880.com for the full on account. Regards Dave.

Geoff

G'day Dave,
I very much agree with your asessment of Ned Kelly The
Authenticated Illustrated History, by Keith McMenomy. The keyword to this
title is AUTHENTICATED, as Keith presents the facts , and references their
source's. so every thing presented in this publication is authenticated. He
then asks us to judge for ourselves.

I bough Keiths book from Target in the
early eighties and have been reading and rereading it for over 20 years ,
never get sick of it, its allways out about nov 11th . betwen the facts
presented in Keiths book , and other facts I have come accross over the
years, (eg The womanising ways of constable Fitzpatrick being bought to
light ,makes Ellen Kelly's story about his advances toward Kate quite
credible).
" There is no doubt in my mind that the Kelly family suffered harassment , and things got worse
when Constable Fitzpartick went to the Kelly house and tried to arrest Dan
Kelly without the required warrant.(Illegal?) and while there according to
the family, tried to have his way with kate.this is only the tip of the
iceberg in Keith's book. It appears that the demotions and expulsions from
the Police Force after the Royal Commission into the Kelly outbreak  were
well justified.but were too late in coming for the Kelly family. Were Never too late for the Boy's and their Family's mate... never!
Regards Geoff.
Absolutely excellent feedback Geoff!
What we have here is a non failure... to communicate. Geoff is 100% right with his facts.
Why? Because he knows what's bullshit and what isn't! The man has read the truth regarding the Kelly's.
It's as simple as that! Keith's book is brilliant, there's no doubt about that Geoff.
Geoff, Thanks for your Feedback , I can see your a very proud Australian.
Dave.

Hey there, I remember the Jika fire well I was in Fairlea at the time and it was one of those devastating moments that brings all crims together in common hatred and disgust in the screws and the system.  Although it was too close to our hearts to hate the system, the 'system' was too anonymous, we needed to vent our anger against a tangible, a screw.  I remember writing a poem to the boys, lots of us did, that we published in our mag. I also remember us girls requesting "Brothers in Arms' to be played on the prison radio. That song has always had the special significance of that moment for me. Took four out of five of em to die but it the closed the hell hole down.........if that is the definition of a bushranger, sacrifice to a greater good then these 5 deserve the title
Here here Jeanie! Closed that fucking hellhole down mate!

good to see someone is actually portraying the new south wales prison system as it really was back in the 70's.i know because I was amongst the ones who enjoyed its hospitality.
Goodonya Ray!
Luckily today, most punters don't think the ol bread and water crap.
...Mind you, bastards like Dennis Ferguson could do with worse.
Prison is about being removed from your loved ones, THAT is the punishment!
Screws like those mongrels in Jika, Pentridge H Division... Parra Circle, Bogga Road, (this list is endless)
Let's hope these cowards are suffering in retirement!
Thanks for ya feeback Ray and Jeanie

G'day Llama, you probably know this already, but just in case..Brendan Abbott escaped from Fremantle Prison not long before it was finally closed in the early 90's. The gaol was then openned to the public because of it's historical value and tours were conducted, and still are, to show people around the old place. They have a visiters book there and one day someone was looking through it and discovered an interesting entry. It read something like " great tour, very interesting and informative, sorry I can't stay around, Brendan Abbott." Brendan Abbott had disguised himself and then taken a tour through his old "home" The most interesting part is that at that time he was still on the run from the WA police for escaping and that the tour guides were either ex prisoners or ex prison guards at that time! It's a funny old world! Dave Brown
How ya goin Dave;)
Yes mate I have read a fair bit about BJ.Abbott, I've barely touched on his story and encourage readers to get their hands on No Fixed Address by Derek Pedley. The bloke made experienced coppers look like twits!.. Gotta love it:)

I love this website! I think all Australian's could learn a thing or two from it. I love your section on Ned Kelly, and portraying him for what he really was - chivalrous, heroic and a true Aussie! I went to the Old Fremantle Gaol and I thought it was full of history, and would make a great addition to your 'Australian Prisons' section. Great website! By the way, is there any way that people can find out if they're related to Ned? Thankyou!!
Goodonyou L.Oliver! I'll add some info on the old Freeo Gaol very soon. Re: related to Ned, try garry dean's website for a detailed Kelly Family tree. Thanks for the feedback mate, Dave
